How to effectively improve the service life of pneumatic ball valves
Pneumatic ball valves have evolved from plug valves. It has the same 90 degree rotation action, but the difference is that the plug body is a sphere with circular through-holes or channels passing through its axis. The ratio of the sphere to the channel opening should be such that when the sphere rotates 90 degrees, it should all appear spherical at the inlet and outlet, thereby cutting off the flow.
In actual use, operators can take a series of measures to improve the service life of pneumatic ball valves while reducing the probability of valve failure, including:
1. Before using pneumatic ball valves, the manufacturer of pneumatic ball valves reminds everyone to clean the pipeline and valve body with water to prevent residual iron filings and other debris from entering the valve body cavity.
2. In the closed state, there is still some residual medium inside the pneumatic ball valve body, which is also under certain pressure. Before repairing the ball valve, close the shut-off valve in front of the ball valve, open the ball valve that needs to be repaired, and release the internal pressure of the valve body. If it is an electric or pneumatic ball valve, the power and air sources should be disconnected first.
3. Generally, soft sealed ball valves use tetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) as the sealing material, and the sealing surface of hard sealed ball valves is made of metal overlay welding. If it is necessary to clean the pipeline ball valve, care should be taken to prevent damage to the sealing ring and leakage during disassembly.
4. When disassembling the pneumatic ball valve, the bolts and nuts on the flange should be fixed first, and then the nut should be slightly tightened and firmly fixed. If individual nuts are forcibly fixed first, and then other nuts are fixed, uneven pressure between flange surfaces may cause damage or rupture of the gasket surface, leading to medium leakage from the valve flange connection.
5. The manufacturer of pneumatic ball valves reminds everyone that when storing pneumatic ball valves, they should be rainproof, waterproof, and moisture-proof, and the flange cover should be tightly covered. Valves stored for more than 12 months should be retested during use to ensure stable performance.
6. If slight leakage is found at the packing during use, the valve stem nut can be slightly tightened until the leakage stops, and cannot be further tightened.
